Between the glow of pregnancy and pregnancy

How is your baby growing?

At 15 weeks of pregnancy, your baby's eyes are almost complete, but the eyelids remain closed. The first digestive fluids from the liver and pancreas have already begun to be produced. In addition to motor exercises, your baby is also practicing its first reflexes: opening and closing its mouth, sucking, and swallowing. The small, flexible thumb is already able to grasp and has set its sights on the umbilical cord.

How is your belly growing?

The second trimester is the most relaxed phase of pregnancy. Any 'initial difficulties' such as nausea and vomiting have subsided and your belly is not yet getting in the way of your daily life. This is why the second trimester is also known as the wellness phase of pregnancy. The initial fluid retention now smooths out any wrinkles on your face. This makes you look healthy and relaxed, giving you a beautiful glow, also known as the pregnancy glow. This is the beautiful side of pregnancy, so enjoy it.

At the same time, however, you may start to forget more things. Hormones are again responsible for so-called 'pregnancy dementia.' They actually reduce your brain's performance because your brain begins to focus on the mother-child relationship. The hormones oxytocin and prolactin, both of which are produced in the brain, are particularly responsible for this.

Fortunately, this forgetfulness is not permanent, but only temporary.

What makes you grow as a family?

If the first trimester test showed any worrying results, the 15th week of pregnancy is a good time to have an amniocentesis. This prenatal test determines the chromosome set of the unborn baby. Alternatively, chromosomal abnormalities can also be determined by testing the mother's blood. This test can be performed as early as the 10th week of pregnancy and is less risky. Discuss which method is best for you in case of need.
