Given that only 5% of babies are born on their due date, it is very likely that you will still be waiting for your baby to arrive at 41 weeks of pregnancy.
Since your baby is now fully developed, it is 'just' continuing to grow in weight and size.
Since the space for your baby in your belly is now very limited and the amniotic fluid may be low, your baby's supply is decreasing, from the 41st week of pregnancy you will be monitored by your gynecologist every two days. CTG and ultrasound will be used to check that your baby is well. This way, if necessary, labor can be induced.
When you finally hold your baby in your arms, you will be overwhelmed with emotions. In addition to intense feelings of happiness and relief that the birth is over, the mother may also experience the baby blues.
Postpartum depression is a very common phenomenon experienced by many new mothers in the first few days after giving birth. Imagine that you have just performed the greatest miracle and given birth to your baby. But suddenly you feel overwhelmed, sad, and maybe even a little lost: this is postpartum depression. These emotional swings are completely normal and are caused by hormonal changes after childbirth. Your body has just achieved an incredible feat and now has to readjust. Added to this are the exhaustion and new challenges that life with a newborn brings. It is important to know that these feelings are temporary and usually disappear on their own within one to two weeks. During this period, it is especially important to seek support, either from your partner, family, or friends. Talk about your feelings, take time for yourself, even if it's only a few minutes a day. Remember that you are not alone. Many mothers experience the baby blues, and this is a sign that your body and mind are adjusting to the new situation.
