At 27 weeks of pregnancy, your baby's brain continues to mature at an impressive rate and is now acquiring its characteristic grooves. In contrast, your baby's skin is becoming smoother as it gains more and more fat. Your baby may also open its eyes.
Meanwhile, blood production has begun in the bone marrow, so your baby can produce its own blood cells. Many organs are now mature, only the lungs need a little more time.
You are gaining an average of almost half a kilo per week. This is mainly stored fluid. You have probably already noticed this in your feet and fingers. Because your fingers can swell a lot, we recommend that you take off your favorite rings before they get stuck on your fingers and you have to cut them off.
Now, at 27 weeks of pregnancy, your baby is pressing hard on your bladder again. You will probably need to go to the toilet more often or leak a little urine when you make sudden movements, such as laughing, sneezing, or coughing. Schedule regular time to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles to help with incontinence.

Your baby can hear you, sense your mood, and feel your hugs. Take advantage of this to share tender moments together. You can also play classical music or music boxes to calm your baby and strengthen the bond between you as parents and your child at this early stage.
