At 34 weeks of pregnancy, your baby has everything it needs and could theoretically survive if it were born now. Now your baby needs to perfect its weight, height, and bone strength. That's why it's important to consume plenty of calcium. Dairy products are a good source of calcium. But green vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, and arugula are also good sources of calcium, as are seeds and nuts.
Even if you think it can't get any bigger, your belly continues to grow. In addition, the shape of your belly may change, as your baby has probably turned.
Your belly button usually changes at 34 weeks of pregnancy: it becomes flatter and protrudes outward, as there is now a lot of tension on the skin. And now you may see a dark line on your belly, stretching from your belly button to your pubic bone: the so-called Linea nigra. This is a dark, harmless pigmentation of the skin caused by increased estrogen levels. This line usually fades or disappears after giving birth.
If you are suffering from nausea again, this may be because your baby is pressing on your gastrointestinal system. A good tip for relief is to eat small meals, but more often than usual.
With your big belly, everything is certainly much more difficult now than before you were pregnant. If you work, it helps that there is a law protecting maternity. According to this, you are not allowed to work six weeks before and eight weeks after your expected due date, so that you can rest more often and start the final stretch of preparations for the baby.
To prevent you from suffering financial losses during the period when you are not allowed to work, there are maternity benefits. You can read here to find out exactly what the benefits are and what you need to be aware of.
